First Year Experiences
Peer Mentoring
Peer mentors (senior students from all years) are trained prior to Orientation week and participate actively in the social and academic program for the Law School Orientation week.
First Year students are encouraged to sign up for a mentor and these are assigned in week 1.
The Peer mentor co-ordinator in The School of Law is Mrs Katherine Lindsay.

Testimonials from Law Mentors and their Mentees about O Week 2008
" You managed and achieved a great feat on Tuesday - it was a huge success and on behalf of all, a big thank you to you and of course to all the helpers. In particular I wish to pass on to all the team (office staff), lecturers and tutors how inspiring it was to see their involvement. I thought their presence and in many cases their involvement was fantastic. Many of the students expressed their appreciation. I would be pleased if you would pass on my thoughts to all the team (office staff), lecturers and tutors ".

"Just to let you know that 2 of my mentees really appreciated the grad orientation. They particularly liked being apart from the undergrads, and the opportunity to meet each other. One of them is forming a study/social group with people she met on those days and consequently feels less isolated and alone. They both asked me to pass on their thanks for the enormous amount of work you put into it ".

" I also have a few emails from other students I met at the law lunches and have written to them a couple of times. They all write back so I think that might be just a little bit of comfort for them that there is someone who is thinking of them. I certainly would have liked a 3rd year just sending me an email every now and then to say hello.
So overall so far it is going well. This kind of service for Law school I think is great. Maybe it could extend into the professional world as well ".
