University of Newcastle Legal Centre (UNLC)
The University of Newcastle Legal Centre is a legal practice and teaching facility which is operated by the School of Law. The Centre is a community legal centre providing free legal advice and assistance to people in the community. The cases that the Legal Centre deals with are varied and include equal opportunity/discrimination, debt, victims compensation and family law.
Later year students can be significantly involved in the work of the Legal Centre by participating in the weekly day and evening advice sessions and in casework. Students from as early as first year can observe client interviews at the advice sessions and discuss the interviews with lawyers from the Centre.
