Message from the Chair

As a member of the community I have seen the University of Newcastle grow from its small beginnings to the enterprise that now occupies a significant place on the national and international university stage.

As a graduate I have been proud to have been educated at the University of Newcastle and to share in its strong tradition of scholarship and sport.

As a member of the business community I have seen how important the University of Newcastle is to our various communities. I am delighted to have been appointed by the University Council to be Chair of the University of Newcastle Foundation, particularly at this new stage in its history.

It is time to take advantage of the independence and responsibility that the new Foundation will have and to call upon students, graduates, members of the community and friends of the University to support our University in the implementation of its strategic plan. It is a good time for all of us to be involved in shaping the institution that will shape the future of our children, our region and our society.

I hope you will support the new University of Newcastle Foundation in this goal.
