Summer School - Year 9 Girls

Alert: Trackwork is planned for Sunday 7 December on the Newcastle and Central Coast and Hunter train lines. For more information, please visit the CityRail website:

Congratulations to the 180 girls making plans to join us at the Yr 9 Girls + Maths + Science = Choices Summer School, where you will discover and learn more about maths, science and technology.

We have put together an exciting Program. We aim for you to learn more about how, why, when and where maths, science and technology are important to your future career.

Do you have some questions or need information? Take a look at Frequently Asked Questions - you may find what you need there.

    Organising transport?

A visit to the University's Transport Information pages will prove useful – especially the link to Long Distance Services. Don't forget to send in your Travel Plan. For students travelling by rail, bus or plane we will have a shuttle service operating.

    Registration

Registration for the Summer School opens at 12 midday on Sunday 7 December with the first activity commencing at 5pm. We encourage you to arrive with enough time to check-in and check out your accommodation; to unpack, freshen up and meet your house buddies and house parent.

The final session on the Friday ends at 12.30. Departures should be organised for no later than 5pm. Contact us if this is not possible.

Each of you will have your own room in a 10 room unit, which also has a shared kitchen, lounge room and two bathrooms. Each unit will have nine girls and one House Parent. Accommodation will be in Evatt House and International House – you can learn more about this at University Campus Accommodation.

    More information

We had close to 400 applications for the 180 places – so we know there are many disappointed girls out there and we wish you could all attend. Take a look at Girls on the Go, where there is a list of other Summer Schools and useful web links.

Remember, if you set your sights on maths, science and technology - varied and exciting careers are waiting for you! Be Inspired - Read what other young women have to say about how useful these subjects were to them.
