Architecture

Architecture is a profession where technology, ecology, philosophy, art and science combine to solve the problems of the built environment.

The buildings we live and work in shape our experiences, our memories and the way we view the world. Homes, office buildings, opera houses, art galleries, schools and factories are all designed by architects. It is the role of the architect to analyse a client's needs and to design a building which fulfills these needs. The architect then documents the design and manages the construction process.

Facilities

As an architecture student your "home" will be our award winning Architecture Design Studio.

The Architecture Design Studio, designed by Australian architect James Grose, provides a working design studio with a personal workstation and drawing board for every student. The studio is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and enhances the opportunites for students to participate in the synergy and group dynamics of a shared learning experience.

It provides a working environment for students which is similar to a professional office with a personal work station and drawing board. The studio is an exciting and vibrant space which is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

There are a variety of Robotic machines which help students to understand their designs:

  • The Helioscope, which allows students to place their architectural models and assess the impact of the sun path on their design.
  • The Urbanscope, which allows students to take images of their models in perspective.
  • Structural testing machines, which allow students to test whether their design will actually stand up.
