Associate Professor Jim Psaros

Prior to entering academia, Psaros was employed for several years in Chartered Accounting. He has experience in Australia and overseas working for Big 5 Accounting Firms. For the last 18 years he has taught and researched at Australian and British Universities. Psaros was the Head of the Department of Accounting and Finance at the University of Newcastle from 1999 to 2001. He has sat on the Board of Directors of companies and the audit committee of government authorities. He is a Fellow of CPA Australia and has both extensive professional accounting and research experience. Psaros has a PhD in Accounting from the University of New South Wales. Throughout his research career, Psaros has focused on issues of practical importance. He has conducted research in a range of areas including auditing and fraud, the inadequacies of Australian accounting standards, and more recently, corporate governance mechanisms.
Mr Michael Seamer
The University of Newcastle
School of Business and Management
Michael Seamer was employed in Chartered Accounting for more than a decade. He has an extensive professional accounting background with particular expertise in taxation and auditing. He commenced his career in university teaching and researching at the University of Newcastle in 1997. He is currently in the latter stages of his PhD, which looks at various theoretical and applied models of corporate governance. Due to his extensive background in professional accounting Seamer's research interests are in areas of practical importance. He has a depth of knowledge in both theoretical and applied corporate governance models.
