Biological Sciences
Research
We conduct research on a wide range of contemporary biological problems. Staff are grouped in four major research themes but there are extensive collaborative links between these themes. By this approach we can develop areas of expertise and also generate multi-disciplinary and innovative research connections. This has been recognised in the diversity of research grants from government and industry sources, special research centres and many high-quality research publications. The major research groupings are:
- Drug Design and Discovery
- Environmental Biology and Biotechnology
- Plant Science Group
- Reproductive Science Group
The discipline hosts two ARC Centres of Excellence and one University Priority Research Centre:
- ARC Centre of Excellence in Biotechnology and Development
- ARC Centre of Excellence in Integrative Legume Research
- University Priority Research Centre in Reproductive Sciences (joint with medicine)
Publications
The Discipline has an excellent publication record. Information about individual publications is available through the above Research Centres and Group link, and in individual staff profiles.
Seminars
Regular seminars are held to share information about Biological Sciences research by staff, students and visitors. Information about upcoming topics can be found on the Biological Sciences Research Seminar Program page.
