Chemistry
Student Societies
The major society for chemists in Australia is the Royal Australian Chemical Institute.
http://www.raci.org.au/
Membership is primarily aimed at professional chemists and graduate students. The membership fee for students is discounted and entitles the member to a copy of the society's monthly magazine and reduced registration fees to all chemistry seminars, conferences and events sponsored by RACI. Student members are also eligible for scholarships for, for example, travel to conferences.
While not strictly a society or intended for university students, you may be interested in the CSIRO's Double Helix Club.

Campus Life
The University also has a range of student organisations, which host a large range of clubs, societies and events. Students are encouraged to participate in some of these activities as part of a balanced approach to work and life.
