Earth Science
Student Societies
Earth Science students have an active social network, with friendships being strengthened during activities such as Field Trips and Undergraduate Student Placements. There are several student societies to which Earth Science students belong. Each group often organises get-togethers and social functions and they each have their own Blackboard sites where information on activities is available. Dr Judy Bailey from the Discipline is able to provide student contacts for the GASS and AUSIMM groups:
GASS - Geological Students' Society
GASS is a great chance for keen Geology students to get together. It allows people from first year to meet and talk to third year students about geology courses and jobs in geology. Excursion BBQs and other GASS events enable all geology students through all years to socialise and meet people that you could later be working with or could possibly even help get you a job in geology.
AUSIMM - Australian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy
ESSA - Environmental Science Students' Association
Campus Life
The University also has a range of student organisations, which host a large range of clubs, societies and events. Students are encouraged to participate in some of these activities as part of a balanced approach to work and life.
