Career Expo preparation

The Careers Service run a number of career expos throughout the year. These events attract a range of organisations:

government departments
private industry
professional associations
graduate recruiters
organisations that offer work experience

The next expo on Callaghan Campus will be the Vacation and Work Experience Expo. This workshop will run through a plan that will maximise the benefits of attending this and other expos.

Finding Part-time Work

This workshop is particularly targeting first year students, both international and local, though any student who is seeking part-time work may benefit from this session. The workshop will cover the following topics:

Regulations: How many hours can you work and how many hours should you work?
Work culture: expectations, idioms and customs
Legal issues: working conditions, tax and Tax File Numbers, workplace occupational health & safety
Where and how to look for work

Graduate Employment -Book Now

Having a degree is not a guarantee of employment. This workshop will run through the main ways that people with degrees find employment. Time will be spent looking at Graduate Programs, a popular method that large organisations (including government and private sector) use to recruit graduates. This workshop is suitable for students at all levels of study - particularly people who will be completing their studies in 2007 and 2008.
