Meat & Livestock Australia Limited (MLA) is a producer-owned company that provides services to the entire Australian red meat industry including producers, feed lotters, processors, exporters, live animal exporters and retailers. As part of our role in servicing the industry, MLA has developed a Professional Graduate Program for the red meat industry. This program places professional graduates with enterprises around Australia in a structured three year development program. Graduates are indentured to non-MLA enterprises for the three year period.
MLA on behalf of the industry is now taking applications for the 2009 graduate program intake. MLA anticipates at this early stage that their will be 25-40 graduate positions made available by industry enterprises across the entire industry and across all of Australia during 2008/09. There will be three intake periods during this time.
What does the Graduate Program have to offer?
Induction into the Graduate Program involves a formal introduction into each individual company depending on site location. This company specific induction provides each graduate with the necessary basic knowledge to commence employment at the company.
Following the company’s formal induction process, each graduate will travel to Sydney to attend an induction program hosted by MLA. This component of the Graduate Program is designed to introduce participating graduates from around Australia and to ensure that a networking process is established. During the induction week the objectives of the program will be detailed and each graduate will be provided with sound knowledge of the red meat industry as a whole.
Professional development
MLA and each participating processing company are committed to providing graduates with specific training and professional development throughout their employment, allowing you to develop relevant skills for your position and broader skills for your future career.
The program provides graduates with a sound support structure to develop your own professional strengths and work ethics during the first few years in employment, allowing you to deliver the outcomes expected of the program.
Mentoring and Coaching
When you join the Red Meat Industry Graduate Program you will be assigned three mentors/coaches where applicable:
On-site Mentor – a company mentor, with red meat and company experience to share their knowledge and experience with you, advise on various projects and ensure a smooth transition into working life from university;
Technical Mentor – a technical mentor, to advise you on career matters and to provide valuable perspective on your role as a graduate; and an
