The 2009 ABC National Graduate Technologist Program

Now taking applications for February 2009

 

The ABC is Australia’s largest broadcaster, employing more than 4,000 staff. The Corporation is a dynamic, progressive and innovative organisation that produces and delivers audio and screen-based content for audiences throughout Australia and overseas. We operate facilities and communications infrastructures throughout Australia, and are an active participant in international organisations and forums concerned with broadcasting and media development.

We are looking for a number of bright and creative technical graduates to take ABC technology into the future. If you are a recent graduate, or about to be a graduate, in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications or similar, opportunities are now available for you to get further training in a broadcast environment.

The 18 month program includes rotation through technical departments at our ABC Ultimo Centre in Sydney and one placement in another state capital. The program is delivered through classroom and on the job training and mentoring, across the areas of technical maintenance and support on a range of TV and radio broadcast equipment, information technology and capital works. Areas covered include: technical operations, TV and Radio Master Control functions, the history of the broadcasting industry, and the impact of technology on the future of electronic media.

You will earn a generous starting salary of around $50K (+super) while you are learning several job roles, from which you will be able to choose a career path in broadcasting.
