SOFTWARE ENGINEER 

(12 month contract Dec 08 to Dec 09)

PURPOSE OF JOB:

Based in Newcastle (Williamtown), New South Wales the Software Engineer will report to theProject Manager of the F/A-18 Maintenance Diagnostics & Service Life Monitoring Systems(MD&SLMS) and will undertake software engineering related activities as directed and inaccordance with the relevant project procedures and work instructions.

           

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

•  Undertake all assigned software engineering activities in accordance with the identified projectdirectives and standards

•  Develop software engineering related documentation in accordance with appropriate standards

•  Provide regular status information to the relevant supervisors as required

•  Work effectively as part of a small engineering team

•  Assist in the development of project infrastructure such as tools deployment, metrics collectionand process development

 

ATTRIBUTES AND EXPERIENCE:

•  Tertiary software engineering or computer science qualification

•  An understanding of the software development lifecycle

•  Experience in developing software in a selection of the following technologies such as:

1.  C# (C Sharp) - primary development language required

2.  C, C++, software development languages

3.  Scripting Languages

4.  Software development under the Windows environment

5.  Object oriented design principles

6.  UML Modelling

7.  Structured (functional) design principles

•  Awareness of configuration and change management principles

•  Sound communication skills and an ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

•  The successful applicant must be an Australian Citizen or eligible for Australian Citizenship andwill be required to attain a security clearance of SECRET.
