SUMMER VACATION EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES 2008/2009
ANSTO is Australia’s national nuclear Science and Technology organisation and the centre of Australian nuclear expertise.
ANSTO is now recruiting for their Vacation Employment Program in 2008/2009. Based in Southern Sydney, ANSTO is currently seeking applications from University students to obtain relevant employment during the 2008/2009 summer vacation break. The program provides a relevant industry based learning opportunity for students to apply theory and skills to the workplace.
Opportunities are only available to students who have completed the second year of a three-year degree or the third year of a four-year degree at the end of 2008. These opportunities are available to students studying at Australian Universities who have appropriate Australian work rights.
Vacancies exist in the following areas:
Institute for Environmental Research
Ref No. V-1- Accelerator based analysis and interpretation of environmental air pollution data taken in Australia and overseas. Degree Discipline: Applied Physics, Chemistry, Computer Science or Engineering.
Ref No. V-3- Isotope Hydrology – quantifying groundwater input to stream flow in a coastal metropolitan sub-catchment using environmental isotopes. Degree Discipline: Environmental Scientist, Geology, Geophysics or similar.
Bragg Institute Ref No. B-1- Planning, design and specification of a helium gas recapture system for the Bragg Institute. Degree Discipline: Mechanical or Civil Engineer.
Ref No. B-2- Science communication and outreach activities: producing promotional material, e.g. equipping the neutron-guide viewing platform. Degree Discipline: Science communication or Graphic design.
Engineering and Technical Services
Ref No. T-1- Design of electronic and electrical instruments & systems related to ANSTO's program of scientific research, reactor utilisation & isotope production. Degree Discipline: Electrical engineering.
Employment will be offered for a minimum of eight weeks and a maximum of ten weeks. Salary will be up to $36,760 per annum. (Note: Age rates apply).
To be eligible for appointment, applicants will require a security and medical assessment and must be a penultimate year student. The program is available only to students at Australian universities who have appropriate Australian work rights.
