PAID INDUSTRIAL WORK EXPERIENCE PROGRAM

 

Macquarie Generation provides approximately 40% of the State’s electricity requirements and is Australia’s largest electricity generator.  We have over 600 employees, most of whom work at our Liddell and Bayswater power stations in the Upper Hunter Valley. Additionally, we have staff based at our corporate office in Newcastle.

 

We have exciting opportunities for students who:

 

Are in second to last year of study

Have the right to work in Australia

Can demonstrate high potential

Are willing to work at our Bayswater and/or Liddell Power Stations (located in the Upper Hunter Valley – between Muswellbrook and Singleton) or our Corporate Office in Lambton, Newcastle

 

We are offering challenging practical, paid work experience projects in the following disciplines:

 

Bayswater and/or Liddell Power Stations:

Mechanical or Electrical Engineering

Mechatronics

Students will be assigned to a station based team and work with them on a number of engineering and business based projects as applicable

 

Corporate Office Lambton, Newcastle

Business

Economics

Finance

Combined Law degrees in conjunction with the above disciplines

This placement focuses on the how the electricity market is operated. There is an opportunity to learn about financial derivatives, electricity demand forecasting, analysis of competitor behaviour, regulatory issues, asset management, option pricing and risk management.

 

Employment is offered for 10 weeks commencing Monday 1st December 2008 through to Friday 6th February 2009.
