The Research Committee (RC) is a Committee which reports to the Academic Senate. It is responsible for advising on strategic policy and planning and quality assurance in relation to research and research training and to provide support for research and research training. It also approves the awarding of internal research grants.
To assist it in its work the Research Committee has two sub-committees:
The Research Grants and Infrastructure Sub-Committee advises on the University's internal Research Grant schemes and provides policy advice on research matters to the RC.
The Research Training Sub-Committee advises on issues arising from the administration of the Masters and Doctoral Degree Rules. It also provides policy advice on research training matters.
Each Faculty also has a Research and Research Training Committee which reports to and advises the Pro Vice-Chancellor and the Faculty Board for the respective Faculty. The Assistant Dean (Research and Research Training) chairs the Faculty committee and is a member of the University committee. Some Faculties have split this between an Assistant Dean (Research) and an Assistant Dean (Research Training).
