DANGEROUS GOODS

The University is required to comply with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) Dangerous Goods Regulations in respect of all goods transported from the University by commercial carriers.

Senders Responsibility

The sender is responsible for completing the following steps in compliance with IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations:

Carriers will not accept consignments if this procedure has not been completed.

Due to the variety and technical nature of substances despatched from the University's Central Store, it is imperative that the officer initiating the consignment be responsible for all steps of preparation of the consignment and for signing the required documentation. Goods Inwards Store staff will affix the appropriate labels.

The Goods Inwards Store holds a copy of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, relevant shipping forms and possible contact names of suppliers who would be able to provide advice and material for specialised packaging.

Please telephone the Goods Inwards Store on ph. 4921 5814 for assistance if required.

Remember, a sender who offers dangerous goods for transportation undeclared or not in compliance with the Dangerous Goods Regulations commits a criminal offence which may result in prosecution.
