Electronic copies in short loans is not working.

There are a number of reasons why you may have difficulty in accessing a Short Loans electronic reading. It may be that the article is still being processed, and has a catalogue entry, but hasn't yet been scanned and had the file attached. There is sometimes a day or two delay before the reading is completed. Or you may have a problem with your PIN number. Or sometimes, if the reading is an article in one of our journal databases, the link to the database can break if the database changes its URL address.
If you are still having difficulties, you could contact us on 49215849, or email shortloansmanager@newcastle.edu.au giving detail of which article you are unable to access.

For common courtesy, people should not be allowed to "reserve " a computer with their gear while they go out and buy food, coffee, smoke or borrow a book. The waiting time on the 29.05.08 was 20 minutes and 5 computers had "blank" screens but people had left their gear so they would not loose the computer. The computers are for working at not eating a main meal there.

Thank you for your feedback. In consultation with IT we will be moving to a system where after 15 mins inactivity ( no keystrokes etc) the machine will automatically log out. Thus preventing people from "reserving" computers.
