I have 3 suggestions re photcopiers in the Ourimbah IRC. !. get machines which work. At one stage yesterday (27/2/08) only 2 of the 5 were working. 2. It's an absolutely criminal waste of paper not having double sided printing. Auchmuty provide this already and it's not hard to learn how to use. The current machines at Ourimbah can be setup for this, as Sydney Uni uses the same copiers and they have them setup to do double sided printing. Sydney charge double sided as one page but I'm not suggesting you need to go this far. 3. at least one photcopier should have recycled paper. The Reflex Recycled paper is as good as any 'unrecycled paper' in appearance and quality.
This is the second time I've made these suggestions. Thanks
Thanks for your suggestion
We understand the frustration the photocopiers have been causing. The University is looking at replacing and updating all photocopiers in the not too distant future. In the meantime when the copiers are down, a service call is placed, and usually fixed within 24 hours.
When the new photocopiers arrive they should be set up to enable double sided copying and a copier will be set up to use recycled paper.
For your information, recycled paper was not used in the past as we were advised that they create more paper dust which can then cause the copiers to jam. As recycled paper has improved this will certainly be used in at least one new copier.
Thank you

I performed a NewCAT search for the prescribed text for my course and after following the "book" (by this I mean "hold", sorry for the ambiguity) link I was prompted to create a pin number. The form did not display a submit button and would not respond to enter key presses. This meant I was unable to book my text. Soon after this I found the page linked to as "create a pin" ( https://library.newcastle.edu.au/patroninfo) and that page successfully displayed a submit button, allowing me to create a pin. It would be nice if the form displayed between a search and booking actually worked too. Thanks.
When I tested the new pin creation form from the booking form, the Submit button was visible, and I was able to create a PIN without a problem both from the button, and by pressing Enter. However, I did find a small error in the html code on that page, which I have now fixed, and this may have affected the way page displayed in your browser. You are using a linux based system and I am unable to test it with your OS and browser, so am not certain that it has been fixed.

The drop down menu of schools in the Get It registration form does not reflect the present organisation of the university. If you press 'not sure' you get the present school structure. This would mystify anyone who has only just arrived.
We are aware that the information relating to Schools and Faculties on the Get it registration form is out of date.
The page is in the process of being updated to reflect the current University structure.

Hi. As an Open Uni student commencing this year I have discovered that the fees for Community Borrowing are outlandish. Tafe students get a massive discount and others have to pay far more for the same service and access. I am requesting as a full time OUA student receiving a Disability Support Pension that an equal discount of $22 (or 2008 amount) to the discount for TAFE students is made available to myself for use of the library. I am considering lobbying for this right to an equal discount. I have had financial difficulties since I was 16 years old - I am now 29, and making my first attempt to commence Uni study. There are library books which can be borrowed from Griffith - yet I refuse to let the local option of borrowing drop.
Hi
thanks for your feedback - as an open university student studying through Griffith you are entitled to borrow from the University of Newcastle Library through the ULA scheme. Which costs $50 . University Library Australia (ULA) is a national borrowing scheme which allows all staff and students of AVCC member universities to borrow in person from any other interstate university in Australia. The scheme is a cooperative arrangement between member universities of the Australian Vice Chancellors' Committee. for more details pleasea see the link below.
