I have no idea of how to access library resourcses through the internet. I would like to read online documents. How do i do this?

To access online resources from the Library homepage you are usually prompted for a username and password, this is you student number and library PIN. To create a new PIN please go to…

Hi guys,

Just a quick note - the renovations to Auchmuty are lovely to look at, however I think there should be a couple more (at least) quick use library catalogue computers to use throughout the library. Now that students can work at the computers it is sometimes difficult to get onto a machine for using newcat for a quick search of subjects etc.

Cheers R

Thanks for your feedback - it seems to be getting harder to find a machine to just use the catalogue. So we have designated  PCs in several locations to help with this issue:
* AIC - 1 machine in the express row
*Level 3 Auchmuty - 2 stand up Pcs opposite the loans desk
* Reading room 1 - 1 pc
* Level 3 in the reference collection - 2Pcs for catalogue use
*Huxley 2 pcs in the entry/foyer area
The machines are set so that the catalogue is the only thing people can view. We hope this will help peopel who just need to find a call no or access short loans.

The microfilm readers need fixing again. This morning, Number three still needed a bulb replacing (I reported this last week).  Number four, the computer would not fire up.

The new machine is excrutiatingly slow to focus, and jerky to the point of suicide on advancing the film. (Maybe it will improve as I use it more. I doubt it).

The old one has no access to flash drive ouptut, and I also have to wind on films manually. Today, at the far end of a tape, it took four minutes to wind on, and five minutes to wind off.

Incidentally, I found a lens in this old machine, left there by someone else. Further, with the newest machine, it took me minutes to find out where to turn them on, and then more minutes to realise I had to use the generic logon to fire them up. No notices to help out.

It all suggests you are being casual about the provision of this service. I can assure you there are many who are not so relaxed about it as you are.

Can I ask you to let me know when Number two or three will be fixed, so that I can go in and use it immediately.

I reason why simple maintenance should not be done the same day or early the next. If it is not, someone need to be replaced.repeat what I said in my last letter. I can see no reason why simple maintenance should not be done the same day or early the next. If it is not, someone need to be replaced.

The onging maintenance of the microform reader/printers is an ongoing problem. Service calls have been logged for the machines.  Unfortunately the resources of the service group that perfom the maintenance are stretched. We have stressed the urgency of the problems and the need for repair . At this busy time all machines are requried. The demand for microform machines is increasing and we may have to review the booking process to ensure equity.
