(Previously Off-Air Recording)
The Library subscribes to two services which provide access to television programs screened on free-to-air television. These services replace the in-house off-air recording service, except in some special circumstances. The recordings are provided to us under the provisions of Part VA of the Copyright Act.
- TVNews
- This service provides streaming video of Australian television news and current affairs as well as selected documentaries. The full database, with programs available from August 2007, can be searched via the link on the TVNews database page. Please check the List of programs to see if the program you want is available via this service. Programs are usually available the day after broadcast. They have stable urls, and can be linked from your Short Loans Online lists.
- RequestTV
- This service allows us to purchase copies of any program broadcast on Australian free-to-air television to be used for the educational purposes of the University. The RequestTV database has citations and summaries of programs from October 2007, and any program broadcast since then can be requested. You can search this database for details of programs, and make your request via the Request Form below.
Any program not covered by either of these services, e.g., local news, will still be recorded in-house.
If you have any questions or need any help with the use of either of these services, please contact us via our online enquiry form.
