OHS CONSULTATION UPDATE

During 2007, The University undertook a review of the consultation arrangements and the committee structures. Following an extensive process involving discussion with the existing committees and an online staff questionnaire, the mechanism for consultation set out below was agreed upon and implemented.

In 2008, the new arrangements will be reinforced and an extensive support network of information and resources will be provided at the Faculty/Divisional committee and the University committee levels, as well as support and training for individual school and unit representatives.

• The overarching OHS Committee is an employee forum to make recommendations on Health and Safety issues and policy.
• If issues are unable to be resolved at School/Unit level, then matters can be addressed by the Faculty/Divisional Committee
• If issues are unable to be resolved at Faculty/Divisional level, then matters can be addressed by the University overarching OHS Committee.
• The Chair of the OHS Committee is an elected employee representative.
