WORKERS COMPENSATION
Acceptance of Claims

Under the currently legislation the majority of claims will be accepted under Provisional Liability.

The insurer must notify both employer and employee if the claim has been accepted or denied by the 7th day after notification of the injury. However, in the event that further information is required to assist in determining the claim, the insurer has a further 21 days to determine liability.

The insurer will advise if a claim form is required.

The determination of whether or not liability for a Workers Compensation claim is to be accepted is made by the University’s Workers Compensation Insurer.  Once they have made their determination, they will provide this advice to both the employer and employee in writing.
