The nominated treating doctor or NTD is the doctor you have nominated to manage your recovery from injury or illness and assist with your safe return to work. For most people this would be their GP. However, we have a number of medical practitioners on both our Callaghan and Ourimbah Campuses who are familiar with the University's workplace and also available to assist you in your return to work and recovery should you choose them as your nominated treating doctor.

The WorkCover Authority NSW states that your nominated treating doctor must be prepared to assist your employer and the insurer with developing and implementing your injury management plan. This is the plan of action to assist your recovery and return-to-work.
You must authorise your nominated treating doctor to provide relevant information about your injury and needs to your employer and insurer. To do this you must sign the appropriate area of the WorkCover Medical Certificate issued by your doctor.

In addition, WorkCover require your nominated treating doctor to consult with your employer, rehabilitation provider and other treating health professionals (e.g. physiotherapist, psychologist, etc.) to determine your work capabilities and identify what workis suitable for you.
