Learning and Teaching Performance Fund

Stage One Participation Requirements Table of the University of Newcastle’s fulfillment of DEST criteria for stage one of learning and teaching performance funding.

The Learning and Teaching Performance Fund has been established as part of the Our Universities: Backing Australia's Future higher education reforms from the Department of Education, Science and Training.

“The purpose of the fund is to reward higher education providers that best demonstrate excellence in learning and teaching”.  (DEST – Learning & Teaching Performance Fund)

The University of Newcastle demonstrates its commitment to improving teaching and learning by the following:

  1. Current and recent institutional learning and teaching plan.
  2. Evidence of systematic support for professional development in learning and teaching for sessional and full-time academic staff.
  3. Probation and promotion practices and policies which include effectiveness as a teacher.
  4. Systematic student evaluation of teaching and subjects that informs probation and promotion decisions for academic position.
  5. Student evaluations of subjects/courses are publicly available on the University’s website.
