How to Use a Scanner
There several scanners available for use in the Information Common.
How do I scan an image?
For quick scanning:

Click Start, All Programs, Canon, Canoscan toolbox OR push the left button on the front of the scanner

Click scan in the menu on the toolbox on the screen

Specify a file name for the JPEG and where it is to be saved

Click Scan

You will be prompted to specify a program: click OK, then All Programs> Canon> canoscan toolbox> canoscan toolbox (icon). These settings are saved for subsequent scanning

Click scan again – your image will be scanned and saved
For advanced scanning:

Click Start, All Programs, Canon, ScanGear Starter, ScanGear Starter

Specify resolution etc

Click the scan button at the bottom of the ScanGear window – no preview of the image will be shown (click the

Preview button if you want a preview before you scan)

Repeat for subsequent images

Once the final image has scanned close the ScanGear Starter window and a dialog box opens showing your scanned images. You will be asked to save these

Under the “save scanned images to” menu, choose desktop and click ‘save’.
Your image(s) will be saved on the desktop in a folder with the day’s date on it.
How Can I Scan Text into Word?

Check the Scanner is turned on at the wall.

Select from Start > All Programs >MIcrosoft Office >Office Tools >Microsoft Office Document Scanning

Scanning box opens

Select a preset for scanning – usually black and white

Text is scanned then,

Select Edit > copy

Open a word document then,
-
Select Edit > paste
