Acceptance of a Postgraduate Offer and Enrolment Information

Congratulations on receiving an offer of admission to the University of Newcastle. We look forward to you enrolling and commencing your studies.

How to accept your offer

When you receive a UAC offer to study at the University of Newcastle, it is necessary to accept your offer online if you intend to enrol.

To accept your offer you will need to access the website www.newcastle.edu.au/uac using your UAC application number and date of birth and follow the prompts. You will also be asked to confirm your address. If you do not have private access to the web, some local government libraries have public internet access.

Do not mail the UAC Acceptance of Offer to UAC.

It is only possible to accept one offer per weekly UAC round at the University of Newcastle. If you wish to accept an offer in a subsequent round, any existing offers for that semester will be cancelled.

Please read the directions within the online process carefully to ensure that your subsequent enrolment is completed correctly. You will be given a transaction number following your acceptance. It is important that you record this number for future reference.

How long do I have to accept my offer?

Please advise the University of your acceptance within seven days of the date of your offer letter or as soon as possible thereafter.

Once you have accepted your offer you will be given information about how and when to enrol online. The acceptance website will provide a link to that section of the Postgraduate Handbook relevant to your accepted program. If you do this it will save you a great deal of time when you go online to enrol.

In addition the “Guide to Online Enrolment” will be mailed to your home address. This booklet will also guide you on how to obtain a student ID card, which is vital for enrolment purposes and for computer and library access.

You should revisit the www.newcastle.edu.au/uac two days after you accept your offer, where you will receive your username and password. This information is required for you to log in to the online enrolment system to select your courses.

Criminal Record Checks and Prohibited Employment Declarations

A number of University of Newcastle programs require the completion of one or both of the above documents. Without these documents students will be unable to undertake necessary placements in NSW Health or Department of Education and Training facilities or at places where they may be in contact with children under the age of 18.

Check the list of programs in the “Guide to Online Enrolment”  if you are unsure whether you need to complete one or both of these forms.

If you are accepting an offer to one of these programs, you will need to complete a Criminal Record Check and/or a Prohibited Employment Declaration. These forms will be provided as part of the generic enrolment information sent to all applicants receiving and accepting an offer. These forms are not part of the University’s enrolment processes but are required by particular NSW government departments before you will be able to begin a placement.

Interstate applicants entering a program that requires a Criminal Record Check will also need to obtain a police check from their home state authority. The police check will need to be submitted along with the Criminal Record Check.

Please direct any enquiries regarding Criminal Record Checks or Prohibited Employment Declarations to the Enrolments section on 02 4921 6589.
