Learning Support is available free to every enrolled student at the University of Newcastle. We are here to help you achieve success! We do this in the following ways:
T: 02 4921 5350
F: 02 4921 6827
Email: ctl-lsp@newcastle.edu.au
Learning Support facilitates workshops for all students, covering a diverse range of academic skills from 'how to write an essay' to 'how to manage your time'. We offer a series of workshops designed to support the needs of international students, such as written and oral communication skills. As well as these, we often work with lecturers to develop workshops specific to the needs of your course. For schedules and information about how to book, go to Workshops.
Whether you are an Open Foundation or Newstep student, an undergraduate or postgraduate, local or international student, you can see a Learning Adviser for any aspect of your writing or study for Individual or small group help. Our Maths Learning Advisers see small groups of students, and we also offer student-to-student maths advice.
For a range of resources about academic skills from essay writing to time management, go to Learning and Study resources. For maths resources, go to Maths.
As a student of the university, you are automatically enrolled in the Learning Support Blackboard site, where you will find copies of slides and handouts used in workshops, as well as Learning and Study resources. Log in to Blackboard and select 'Learning Support' from your list of courses, or go to http://blackboard.newcastle.edu.au/.
MC146 is our new space where students can 'drop-in' or formally organise to work together, facilitated by a Learning Adviser. For more information go to Workshops
